Campaign Officer Job Description

Campaign officers are responsible for creating public awareness of a politician and ensuring that he or she ultimately wins the election.

The profession includes many subspecialties: Press and public relations, polling, opposition research, fundraising, logistical organizing, and a wide range of other skills to deal with the ups and downs of a campaign.

In large campaigns, these duties are handled by specialists, whereas in smaller campaigns they are looked after by a small group of individuals, or even just one person.

Typical Job Duties

• May plan and coordinate campaign strategies

• May be responsible for speaking with media

• Oversee production and distribution of promotional items

• Research the policies of the opposition

• Confer with campaign manager as to current internal or external issues related to the campaign

• Coordinate and schedule campaign events

• May be responsible for making travel and accommodation arrangements

• Must work within extremely tight deadlines

• Polling members of the community and analyzing the results

• May be responsible for organizing fundraising events
