Military Chaplain Job Description
A military chaplain accompanies military personnel around the globe as they perform various missions and acts as their spiritual leader.
The military chaplain acts as a preacher, teacher, counselor and citizen soldier, and is often accompanied by a chaplain assistant, who is an enlisted soldier.
Typical Job Duties
• Travel with soldiers during various missions
• Delegate duties to chaplain assistant
• Act as moral and ethical advisor to soldiers
• Oversee base and unit religious programs and ensure that religion is exercised freely
• Work one on one with soldiers and their families to provide spiritual nourishment
• Take responsibility for the emotional and spiritual well being of the soldiers
• Provide spiritual and emotional counseling to soldiers
