The director of volunteer services is responsible for creating, developing, implementing and managing a vision and strategy for their organization’s volunteer services, programs and initiatives.

 

The director of volunteer services must take the lead in recruiting, training, motivating and recognizing volunteers in order to maintain an engaged, motivated and productive base of volunteers.

 

 

Typical Job Duties

• Estimate the amount of volunteers needed for each project or initiative

• Recruit, train, motivate, encourage and recognize volunteers

• Coordinate with other team members in order to deliver programs to volunteers in the field

• Oversee and maintain database and network of volunteers

• Design and deliver volunteer training materials

• Design and implement volunteer appreciation events

• Establish well-defined roles for volunteers

• Partner with various organizations for the purpose of drawing in new volunteers

• Coordinate with other team members in identifying community organizations and businesses to promote the mission and vision of the organization
