Linguistic Anthropologist Job Description

Linguistic anthropologists design and conduct various forms of research projects in order to study the origin and use of languages.

Linguistic anthropologists read historical documents and study collected data so they can understand the nature of a specific language and how it helps shape human behavior.

Typical Job Duties

• Plan, conduct and direct research projects

• Review and interpret historical documents and literature to obtain linguistic and social data

• Analyze findings of research

• Write papers based on research and present them to various academic groups or have them published

• May act as a consultant to governmental or private agencies

• May instruct post-secondary courses
