Pregnancy Counselor Job Description

Pregnancy counselors are responsible for providing services and support for women who are pregnant or suspect they are pregnant. They may administer pregnancy tests, provide information regarding community resources and give encouragement.

Typical Job Duties

• Describe the purpose of counseling to the client

• Administer pregnancy tests

• Provide clients with information regarding how to avoid becoming pregnant, or increasing their chance of becoming pregnant, depending on their situation

• Maintain client records and confidentiality

• Gain thorough understanding of the client’s situation

• Liaise with other staff

• Refer clients to other professionals and resources as needed
