Sculptor Job Description
Sculptors use both traditional and non-traditional materials such as ice, stone, clay, wood, metal, wax, fired ceramics and others to create original three-dimensional artworks.
They might experiment with new materials, installation techniques and mixed media applications.
Typical Job Duties
• May confer with client or management to understand design needs
• Create original or replica works of art for special events, private collections, public display or other usage
• May use computer aided design programs to assist with the design and planning processes
• Produce accurate models for presentation
• Identify and solve design problems prior to commencing sculpture
• Produce digital animations of the work positioned on the site to give clients a precise idea of how the work will appear
• Use various hand tools to form sculpture
