Tax Economist Job Description
Tax economists are responsible for conducting research, preparing reports and formulating plans intended to address economic problems related to fiscal policy or the production and distribution of goods and services.
Typical Job Duties
• Explain economic phenomena and forecast market trends by analyzing data and applying mathematical methods
• Conduct research on various economic issues
• Summarize research findings in technical reports and scientific journals
• May supervise the research projects of students
• Make recommendations or plans to solve economic problems
• Study economic data in area of specialization, such as finance, labour or others
• Study the socioeconomic impacts of new public policies, such as proposed legislation, taxes, services, and regulations
• Give expert testimony at legislative or regulatory hearings regarding the likely effects of legislative or regulatory changes
