Discrimination Investigator Job Description

Discrimination investigators are responsible for conducting examinations of alleged violations of equal opportunity laws and policies relating to housing, employment, public services and public accommodation.

Typical Job Duties

• Secure sensitive information from individuals

• Interpret equal opportunities laws and apply them to various situations

• Determine whether or not an individual was subject to discrimination

• Maintain confidentiality of all parties involved

• Interview employees, review personnel documents and analyze employee data

• May review the details of real estate transactions

• Conduct settlement and mediation meetings

• May investigate citizen complaints regarding private entities, or internal complaints and those employed with local, regional and federal agencies
