Arts Council Director Job Description
An arts council director is responsible for overseeing the day to day administration and long term direction of an arts council. They must provide strategic leadership for activities, instructional programs, excursions and exhibits.
Typical Job Duties
• Undergo an annual performance review
• Source and pursue grant funding opportunities
• Prepare or oversee the preparation of periodic expenditure reports to the Board of Directors, including year-end financial statements
• Represent the Arts Council at local and regional meetings of related associations
• Develop and implement various arts instructional programs, cultural services and exhibits
• Create and publish a schedule of Arts Centre activities and exhibits
• Monitor and work to resolve any issues with active programs, exhibits, classes and instructors
• Maintain contact and positive relations with instructors on program issues
• Recommend Arts Centre improvements
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise and support Arts Centre staff
