Web Editor Job Description

Web editors are responsible for the content displayed on a website. They must plan, research, write copy and edit the content of a website. Web editors may work for an organization or be employed on a contractual basis. 

Typical Job Duties

• May liaise with content writers, web designers, web developers, webmasters, photographers, marketing professionals and other personnel

• Must have thorough understanding of the website’s audience

• Develop copyright, editorial and data protection policies and procedures

• May liaise with colleagues or clients to ensure style and presentation are appropriate

• Create new content and present it in an interesting and appealing manner

• Commission photographers

• Source images and photographs from the internet and other resources

• Plan the style of copy required and the frequency with which it will need updating
