Art Dealer Job Description
Art dealers are responsible for selling paintings, sculptures and other works of art to their clients and general customers. They act as an intermediary in connecting artists and buyers.
Job Duties
• Sell artworks done in every medium
• Gain thorough understanding of the needs of wants of the buyers they represent
• Attend art shows and auctions in order to gain clientele, liaise with artists and other art dealers, as well as purchase artwork for their clients
• Spend a great deal of time networking in order to find new buyers or artists to represent
• May affiliate with auction houses in order to sell art
• May sell art from private office
• May specialize in a certain era, particular style, certain artist or certain medium
