Domestic Abuse Investigator Job Description
Domestic abuse investigators are responsible for working with law enforcement agents to research, analyze and investigate domestic violence offenses and accusations.
Typical Job Duties
• Investigate the scenes of domestic crimes
• Interview victims, witnesses and suspects
• Gather and examine evidence
• Obtain photos and medical records of the victim’s injuries
• Review police reports to determine if charges should be dropped or kept
• Conduct research pertaining to a suspect’s history of domestic violence
• May testify as a witness during court proceedings
• Refer victims to community resources
