Voiceover Actor Job Description

Voiceover actors use their vocal abilities to narrate a film or bring a character to life in an animated production.

They read scripts for movies, video games, internet voice files and programs, cartoons and advertisements. Steady employment for voice-over actors is rare, and most work on a per job basis. 

Typical Job Duties

• Study script during auditions, and wait for turn to record

• Follow script directions and listen for subtle changes

• Analyze scripts and make quick changes based on director’s instruction

• Follow strict timelines

• Use natural or altered voice for certain characters

• May use voice to promote product or service during for an advertisement
