Community Service Organization Manager Job Description

A community services organization manager plans, organizes and coordinates the activities of a social service program, or community outreach organization. The manager of a community services organization must oversee the organization’s budget and policies regarding participant involvement, program requirements and benefits. The work also involves liaising with, and sometime directing social workers, counselors and probation officers.

Typical Job Duties

• Direct fund-raising activities and the preparation of public relations materials

• Implement, monitor and evaluate staff training programs

• Analyze any relevant proposed legislation in order to determine how the organization and its services could be affected

• Research and analyze member or community needs in order to determine program directions and goals

• Explain organization’s objectives, practices and policies to various community groups

• Recruit, interview and hire staff and volunteers

• Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and organizations in the community in order to meet community needs and to ensure that services are not duplicated

• Represent the organization at media and governmental functions and events

• Plan and administer program budgets
