Pastoral Animator Job Description

A pastoral animator is a professional who is responsible for organizational duties as well as assisting students in the development, organization and implementation of activity programs related to the spiritual, moral and religious aspects of student life.

Pastoral animators are often employed by educational institutions. 

Typical Job Duties

• Provide counseling services for troubled students and staff

• Act as staff and student advocate when appropriate

• Visit sick students and staff, and encouraging others to follow suit

• Establish a youth ministry team and leadership program at the school

• Develop and implement a social action program for the school where students can live what they learn

• Encourage personal growth in faith

• Act as a resource for classroom prayer and the religious education course, as well as facilitate staff understanding of religion

• Facilitate prayer at staff meetings, celebrations, and prayer sessions such as liturgies, para-liturgies, and retreats
