General Job Description
Cantors chant and read portions of ritual during religious services as well as direct members of the congregation during musical activities.
Typical Job Duties
• Confer with leader of congregation to arrange musical portion of worship service
• Chants religious texts during worship services
• Train members of congregation in musical responses to chanting
• May teach vocals to youth or other groups or members of congregation
• Create variations of music for worship services
