Clergyman/woman Job Description
Clergymen/women are responsible for conducting religious worship and performing other spiritual functions that are associated with the beliefs of a religious denomination. Clergymen/women also provide spiritual and moral guidance and advice to members of the church.
Typical Job Duties
• Provide advice to individuals and groups concerning their spiritual and emotional needs
• Study, analyze and interpret religious laws and doctrines
• Administer religious rites
• Train church leaders and youth groups
• Visit people in their homes or in hospitals to provide them with emotional and spiritual support
• Plan and lead religious education programs for congregations
• In collaboration with committees, address issues pertaining to the financial and administrative issues of the congregation
• Respond to emergency or crisis situations
• Perform administrative duties such as overseeing building management, ordering supplies and contracting for services and repairs
