Psychologist Job Description

Psychologists are responsible for helping clients work towards the maintenance and enhancement of physical, intellectual, emotional and social functioning.

In order to effectively assist patients, they must identify, assess and treat psychological, emotional and cognitive disorders.  

Typical Job Duties

• Examine and assess behavioural, emotional and cognitive disorders

• Use standard psychological tests, questions and processes to assess patient

• Provide counseling and therapy to clients

• Plan, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate intervention programs

• Apply psychological theory and principles regarding behaviour and mental processes such as learning, memory, perception and language development

• Offer mediation services

• Maintain comprehensive and confidential patient files

• Plan and conduct research

• Publish research papers, educational texts and articles

• Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops and seminars
