Legislative Aide Job Description
Legislative aides are responsible for assisting legislators with a wide variety of tasks. They must travel with the legislator as needed, and act as a personal secretary and administrative assistant.
Typical Job Duties
• Proofread and perform legal research on pending legislation
• May write floor speeches for legislative members
• Draft press releases and answer constituent letters
• Meet with constituents and listen to their concerns
• Perform editorial work for various office publications
• Monitor the progress of bills in committees, as well as votes on the House floor
• Work within tight deadlines
