Radio Program Director Job Description
A radio program director is the person who determines which radio playlists, programs and commercials will be broadcast as well as their schedule.
Radio program directors also recruit, interview, hire and train disk jockeys and other on-air talent.
Typical Job Duties
• Support the goals of the general manager and the sales manager
• Decide which commercials, music playlists and other programs to include in a broadcast
• Determine the broadcast schedule for various materials
• Schedule the auditions of on-air talent
• Setup meetings with production staff
• Be aware of what listeners are interested in and know how to capture their attention
• Coordinate and negotiate with sponsors and broadcasters
• Monitor the expenses of the program and operate within budgetary limits
