News Analyst Job Description 

New analysts are responsible for receiving, analyzing and interpreting news that is received from various sources in order to broadcast the information.

Typical Job Duties

• Examine local, national and international news in order to determine which topics to address

• May obtain assignments from other staff

• Prepare analysis of news items and submit to editor for approval

• Edit news material to ensure that it fits within the allotted time frame

• Select the news material that is most important and suitable for presentation

• Organize material into appropriate formats

• Present analysis of news items during broadcast
