Television newscasters are responsible for collecting and analyzing information about newsworthy events in order to prepare news stories for broadcast.

Typical Job Duties

• Evaluate news leads and tips

• Receive assignments from editors and producers

• Develop story ideas based on news leads and tips

• Use methods such as interviewing, researching and observing to verify facts

• Write story based on agreed upon style and formatting standards

• May transmit information to news writers

• May monitor police and fire department communications to find story leads
