Programming Director Job Description
A director of programming is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of all personnel who are involved in preparing broadcast programming schedules and content.
Typical Job Duties
• Hire staff and conduct performance evaluations
• Develop ideas for programs that the radio or television station can produce
• Develop and maintain programming and broadcasting budgets
• Act as a liaison between directors and talent
• Provide cues for actors, performers, guests and technical staff
• Coordinate activities between departments
• Confer with directors and production staff in order to discuss issues such as production and casting problems, budgets, policies, and news coverage
• Provide information that performers and guests need in order to prepare for an appearance
• Ensure schedules are met and guidelines are adhered to by monitoring and reviewing programs
