Publication Assistant Job Description
Publication assistants provide assistance to editors in all stages during the publication of books, journals, magazines and other materials.
They support editorial staff with the administration related to commissioning, planning and production of publication materials.
Typical Job Duties
• Serve as principle source of information to staff, faculty, authors, publishing representatives, media, booksellers, and other customers on policies, procedures, programs, and office activities
• Format, proofread, type and edit correspondences, press releases, manuscripts, reports and other materials
• Review outgoing material to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Recommend revisions of manuscripts and illustrations
• Perform layout related duties
• Coordinate production schedules and ensure that printing deadlines are met
• Identify sources of data
• Monitor expenditures and reconcile financial statements
