Greeting Card Writer Job Description

Greeting card writers compose original works for inclusion in greeting cards. They must prepare and write content for a variety of different occasions and types of cards, and then they generally submit them to the greeting card company, although they may own their own greeting card company.

Greeting card writers may create their own illustrations or liaise with illustrators to develop a completed card.

Typical Job Duties

• Source greeting card companies and industry contacts

• Compose content for a variety of different occasions and types of cards

• May submit composition to greeting card companies, or may self-publish and market greeting cards

• May liaise with illustrators to complete greeting cards

• May create illustrations

• Develop relationships with greeting card companies

• Maintain portfolio of compositions
