Crossword puzzle makers are responsible for devising and creating crossword puzzles. They may be employed by a newspaper, magazine, website or other publication, or they may work as freelancers.
Typical Job Duties
• Devise and create crossword puzzles by drawing form, setting up numbered blank squares for insertion of words, and black squares to complete design
• Fit words into blank areas
• Compose short definitions of words which are numbered to corresponding definitions
• Prepare puzzle key by setting up completed puzzle
