Playwright Job Description

Playwrights compose original plays, such as dramas, tragedies or comedies. They may also be responsible for adapting themes for fictional, historical or narrative sources for dramatic presentation. 

Typical Job Duties

• Write dialogue and describe action to be followed during enactment of play

• Make revisions to script during rehearsals

• May develop new script based on feedback from theatre professionals, such as actors and directors

• Liaise with producers and directors to provide casting input
