The economic development officer of a community is responsible for facilitating and promoting community economic development, in order to increase local employment though the growth and development of business.
Typical Job Duties
• Act as a liaison between local organizations, businesses and individuals and representatives of government, business and industry concerning economic development
• Secure funding for economic development programs and activities
• Represent the community at economic conferences at the local, regional and national levels
• Provide advice regarding market analysis and economic opportunities
• Identify opportunities for joint ventures and assist with any negotiations
• Establish and support a Community Economic Development Committee
• Research private and public sector economic development funding opportunities
