A news ombudsman serves as an intermediary between a news broadcasting organization and its audience.
Typical Job Duties
• Listen to or read audience grievances
• Receive and investigate complaints about a specific broadcast or the broadcasting organization
• Educate broadcast audience as to their rights
• Provide private consultations and propose solutions and options to resolve conflict
• Prepare reports and statistics pertaining to grievances
• Identify patterns of problems and make recommendations to management regarding possible improvements
